Anita's Devotions

The Mentoring is In the Message- Introduction

So this is the first of many blogs to come in the future. First off, I would like to thank my mentor and spiritual mother, Anita Carman, for giving me the opportunity to do this. For years I prayed for a mentor, someone who really sought the face of God and worked diligently for His divine will. Never in a million years, did I think that He would bless me with such a phenomenal women of God. She is truly one of a kind and I don’t think I could have dreamed up a better spiritual mom. I am so humbled and in awe of how good God is to me for thinking enough of me to allow our paths to cross and I do not take this blessing lightly. Thank you Anita

Secondly, I thought I would introduce myself since you are going to get an opportunity to read about my spiritual journey being mentored by Anita. My name is Tatiana Fox, I am 26 years old, a Cornell graduate, a TFA alum, originally from New York. I have been with Inspire for almost 3 years. Like the other women on staff, God set me apart to use my gifts and talents to upbuild His kingdom and every day I am humbled and grateful just for the opportunity to serve Him with such incredible women. In the  years that I have been serving here, I have had the extreme privilege of being poured into by Anita. She constantly speaks words of life into me and my situations, through her keynotes, e-devos, leadership institute lectures, writings and the quality time that we sometimes get to spend together. She always has an encouraging word. We have a running joke at Inspire that Anita’s mentoring is in her message. If you read her material or listen to her speak you will see that every message is designed to promote growth. That is her heart. And that is the reason that I wanted this blog to have that name.

In these upcoming blogs I am going to be, like my mentor says, completely transparent. You may laugh. You may cry. You may not like it. You might shout, “right on sistah.” You may not do any of those things. You may do all of those things. You may come up with some really creative way to respond to what you read.  But, regardless, I am going to be honest with what the Lord is saying to me. For those of you who may have met me or know me, you know that this is not easy for me to do. I usually remain closed off from the world, listening to the problems of others but never sharing mine. However, one of the many things that I’ve learned from my mentor is that God does not give you a story to keep it to yourself. It is meant to be shared because someone may be touched or changed simply because they are going through the same things you are. So in this arena I will share my journey and pray you don’t judge me too much.

So every weekday I will be taking one of Anita’s radio segments and talking about how it pertains to my situation. How it resonates in my heart and how it is being applied to whatever I might be facing at the time. Feel free to respond or comment. It is my prayer that as you read this blog, you too understand that the mentoring is in the message. Take the message and apply it to your life so you too can grow.

This is a blog written by an Inspire Women leadership intern in response to the daily KHCB radio segments written by Anita Carman. The purpose of the blog is to gain insight into how Anita’s message is transforming the life of a young woman and through the daily reminder of God’s Word she receives the mentoring she desires.
